Well, it’s almost time for Gen Con 2015! Once again, I will be there in the author’s alley section, so please stop by! I will have a number of new surprises for you:
First of all, I am pleased to announce the completion of Dire Destiny Year Four: Splintered Wood, Broken Stone. It is now for sale on our Lulu site and I will have a limited number of copies available at the convention. This is the first time in our history that the printed book is actually debuting in advance of the pages appearing on the website, so it’s a very special opportunity for anyone who purchases the book. Also included is a brand new short story about traumatic event in Eric’s past.
Second, I will have copies available of our recent publication Hammer on Stone: Poetry of the Dwarves. If you are stout; if you have a beard or even just admire them; if you have ever wanted to drink mead; and if you have an abiding hatred of goblins, trolls, and orcs, then this is the book for you. It’s also available in our Lulu store and you can buy it as a PDF. It also features some lovely illustrations by artist Clay Kronke (which is a fine Dwarven name if ever I heard one!)
Lastly, I announce here for the first time an upcoming new project: I am currently working with Alina Pete of Weregeek comics on a card game which we hope to be launching via Kickstarter either During or Shortly after Gen Con. The name of the project is “Twilight Arcana” but I will say no more until the Kickstarter page is up and running. Watch this space for news!
In other news, we will be at Baltimore Comic Con in September and yes I did indeed say WE. Mikolaj is currently making arrangements to come over, and I expect to have those arrangements followed up shortly.
This is going to be an unexpectedly big year for Dire Destiny. I’d like to thank everyone who’s been following us and buying our books and who has been eminently patient as we have slowly rolled this enterprise into better shape. With our new website, new books, and several upcoming projects on the burners, I promise that there will be even more news and developments in the coming weeks as this place comes more and more to life… and you’re going to be hearing from me more often, of that I am sure. In fact, I have an awful lot to say about the news coming out of Games Workshop and what’s happened to Warhammer Fantasy Battle, but that will have to wait for the weekend.
